Reasons To Disagree
We should be able to help undemocratic countries by helping them get their export market up and running and get their dollar moving quicker
A good way to undermine an undemocratic country is to trade with the people within it, to give them money and thus some power. Also, its important that people eat and get medicine, irrespective of the regime they live in... However, it would be good not to supply military or other unnecessary services directly to undemocratic goverments.
Surely by definition this would stop most trade. EG : USA is a democracy.......... invading other countries is undemocratic
Business and politics are two different things and should be kept seperate. Trade is the lifeblood of all countries and we should trade with whomever is willing to buy and pay
It's not for us to seek to impose our system of government on another country.
The strength of a democracy is in it's realitive ability to succeed. Democracies should engage totalitarian states head on and compete with them - by restricting them we only make them more insular and defensive, and obscure - all even more hellish for their citizens
dont judge
People of all countries should be able to trade freely, regardless of their governments.
Oh that we were so pure and righteous!
What a waste of oppotunities
Any individual should be free to trade with whoever they wish.
Trade creates wealth, wealth encourages democracy up to a point. A case in point: India is a democracy, but non-democratic China is creating more rapid development and a better life for its citizens through more efficient economic and political management.
It is not the place of government to restrict my freedom to interact in voluntary ways with any other

Reasons To Agree
We should not seek to profit from repressive regimes.
It is possble to remain faithful to the cause.
To the neutral voter - who says capatalism underpins democracy? Democracy is about the strength and voice of the people - not just the ones who can afford it - which sounds a lot more like socialism to me.
This one is a no-brainer. Don't do business with assholes.

Reasons for Remain Neutral
Trading with other nations is an essential component of capitalism which is the underpinning of modern democracy - however stringent trading rules should be placed on non-democratic regimes where people are being hurt or marginalised by dictatorship-led states who abuse their monopoly of trade regarding the supply of food/medicines and other essetnials to the citizens of their state.
Should not trade with countries in which slavery and child labour clearly still exists
Trade with who ever can make our country benefit.
We should first focus on meeting our needs in common domestically before exporting our natural wealth. E.g. International companies have commercial fishing quotas for commercial gain yet it is not possible for someone in the community to go fishing to provide freely for everyone therein. This would give greater degrees of freedom to people in the community and be good for the environment. Instead fishing is more of a recreational and individual pursuit and the commercial exploitation is reducing fish population. More on this at www.palparty.org
