Reasons To Disagree

The 'Justice' system is abysmal. It is too slow, too expensive, and too often is just a contest of who can pay the most for their lawyers, rather than determining truth / guilt / innocence. Any system that can bankrupt a person in the defence of their innocence is a disgrace.

I disagree with regard to violence in the home. The law does not help the victims of violence when it states that children need contact with their violent parent. Children need positive role models both male and female and this is not necessarily the parents! Also I am appaulald at offenders getting financial compensation for any reason and I dont think its a solution to give the money awarded to an ofender to a victim either. If my relative had suffered at the hands of a low life I would be discusted to have an offer of money won by the murderer. The law is a disgrace. It seems to me the Law works best for those with the best Lawyer doesn't matter who's right???The only people who benefit from the Law are the Lawyers lining their pockets!!! I dread the day I will need representation as I have no faith in the law.

Someone can kill at the age of 20 get out at the age of 30 and be no different or worse, there are so many people reoffending when they get out.

Our justice system is a joke.. We should be throwing away the key a lot more and start by repealing the Resource Management Act and enact a constitution which guarantees the rights of all New Zealanders regardless of race. We need to do away with any reference to the treaty as it is an historical document that has no relevance in our lives today. If the maori want a war over it they can have one. We as a nation must stand united AS ONE PEOPLE and be all on the same roll and have the same access to services regardless of skin colour or where your great-great-greatfather was born.... Down with racism and separatists. I never heard any maori ever thank the british or any white man for anything ever.No thanks for tv or the dpb or medicine or writing or sport or money or drugs or hot white chicks or proper clothing or sustainable food or building products or paint or cars or blankets.....

The NZ legal system is risible. You only have to look at the repeat offending - the unsolved crime - the escalating violence - to see that this is so. The system appears to be designed as a money-printing machine for shonky lawyers playing silly games with "justice". It is enmeshed in and driven by socialist dogma. Trials are a farcical version of schoolboy debates where truth, facts and justice are ignored - petty point-scoring by the protagonists is the aim - get 'em off by any means possible. It is the police who are manacled - by petty rules of procedure and bureaucratic demands which serve only to restrict them in their endeavours and make prosecution almost impossible.

if the goverment thinks the justice system works well, why is the crime rate increasing?lawyers should also be held accountable for the crimes of the reoffending criminals they help to put back out on the streets.

While I class myself as a social liberal, the amount of crime that goes unduely punished is mind-boggling. People who kill and who feel no remorse get a measly sentence that they don't even have to serve in it's entirety. One may object to this indeed but those opponents obviously haven't had someone taken away from them by heartless perpetrators. I propose stricter sentences and longer ones for the worst crimes.

14 July 2007

Goverment = fail

6 August 2007

The justice system is slow and bureaucratic. focusing on means, rather than outcomes, to fend off corruption; and creates crime

19 December 2007

no.!!!! the pigs are really unfair all they try to do is imatate you and try out the blame on the closet person.they dont follow any procedures or anything, there useless

15 May 2008

Obviously its not working well since we have such a high crime rate.. people dont seem to care if they go to jail they come out do the same crime again.

21 August 2008

Absolutely not. It favours the criminal and lawyers

13 September 2008

We suffer from victim mentality. If it is a particularly nasty crime it is always someone elses fault. People are not required to take responsiblity for their own actions.

4 November 2008

As a part of our suck-up-to-the-UN, and feel-great-about-how-progressive-we-are attitudes, prisoners are being given more rights than victims and their families!

4 November 2008

Our justice system is full of double standards. Depending on who you are in our society, depends on the form of punishment. So unfair. It should be the same for all, no matter who you are and what you do.

29 January 2009

Crime is high!! The justice system is wayyyyy too soft. Its pretty much saying "ohh we'll just put you away for 3years give you some councelling and then you can go roam the streets again" Beacause everyone wants a mass murderer walking beside them... NOT! Knuckle Down before one of your family members are in serious danger because YOU let a murderer off the hook.

16 February 2009

The system is inefficient and relatively corrupt as is the case with Bain. Also our focus on punishment shouldn't be on how long we throw away the key but how effectively we can rehabilitate the convicted and integrate them into parts of society where they will be useful and might find a place they belong where they can serve to better the generations behind them.

18 April 2009

hell, id steal something to get free sky tv, underfloor heating, double glazing,, no rent, free food!! prison should be prison, not a retirement home!

31 October 2010

Too many crimes are happening, the punishment should be more harsh

13 June 2011

The only people I know who think the New Zealand Justice system is not a joke, are those who've never had to rely up it for a just and equitable result.

18 July 2012

The police are given too much power and sway. Their word can not be challenged at the moment. The word of police it given more credence than objective facts.

2 December 2012

The NZ 'justice' system is a complete joke! The longest sentence given for murder was just over 30 years and that was a multiple murder with several people killed! Murderers should get life like in the states and so should the worst rapists. We have an extremely shocking crime rate in NZ. Something needs to change, and quick!

6 September 2013

Maybe stop arresting people for smoking weed and stop spending millions on the war on cannabis. Use cannabis to it's full potential with hemp clothing, concrete wonder food, no chemicals no fertilizer no cost other than land and time. Durable clothing, ropes and insulation can be made. Youy could make a car, as strong as steel out of hemp. hemp oil is fuel for the car also. hemp fuel can slow petrolium prices. hemp oil is plastic aswell!! We need to remove the image of cannabis being bad, it's the future, stop delaying it.

Reasons To Agree

Recindivism rates are to high. Crime prevention is probably needing to get greater emphasis, rather than increased sentences

14 February 2006

I was going to disagree, but the rant provided in support of disagreement put me off.

10 February 2007

Generally it is a good system but could be improved
