Reasons To Disagree
The rebates given on lower incomes already provides for lower tax. I see no need for additional cuts.
This is discriminatory
Why? They already contribute less taxes back to society thatn higher income earners, therefore already are reaping the benefits paid for by someone else
They'll only spend it on booze, fags, gambling and porn, while their out of control hordes of brats will commit ever increasingly violent crimes
I agree that this is discriminatory... why not just say tax cuts for unemployed? you wouldnt allow that so why lower incomes.. essentially its students and unemployed who will benefit and they contribute the least to society.
Give tax cuts to everyone - it's their money that was taken by force.
Its ridiculous how the smart and hard working people that earn more are penalised for this by having to pay more tax as it is. Extra cuts for low income is discriminating. Should be the same rate for everyone wether you earn $15K or $250K. All its doing is penalising those who are growing our economy and rewarding those who are draining it
I don't mean beneficiaries here because they don't pay tax. Lower income workers are those who earn minimum wage (ie they get a marginal amount more than a beneficiary but are not entitled to the other subsidies (eg home help, food subsidies, car subsidies, mortgage repayment subsidies (for more info check out winz.govt.nz for all available tax-payer funded subsidies to beneficiaries). These people usually work long hours in crap jobs for insignificant pay (ie less annual salary than a beneficiary) so yes they should get tax relief!
A tax free thresh hold we be better. Say the first $5000 of income is tax free.
No tax for people on $13.50 per hour would be fair any mp looking here should try living on this for 12 months

Reasons To Agree
People on lower incomes need more of their weekly pay packet to pay for the basics of food and shelter. People on lower incomes should be rewarded for working rather than collecting a benefit. Therefore they should pay less tax
We should have a flat tax rate across all income brackets, GST and companies set at approximately 15%.
Everyone should get tax-cuts not just the people who vote for Labour
A tax cut to lower incomes is a tax cut for everyone. Why would anyone complain? I'd personally like to see some of the surplus spent on health, education and infrastructure. New Zealanders need to grow up from the knee jerk reaction of "Money money money!" and realise we're not highly taxed at all. Look at Europe. Even Australia has higher taxes. Americans pay much lower taxes to the federal government, but people forget Americans have to pay tax to their state as well.
BAD QUESTION - typical Hobson's choice!
TAX SHOULD BE REDUCED ACROSS THE BOARD.
Someone has to do the lower paid jobs, if they get more out of working then it could mean more people can afford to come off a benefit. As I know allot of people on benefit's that earn more than people that are on min wage.
tax is the reason most have a lower income anyway...
Tax cuts should be for everyone, that said tax cuts for some is better than tax cuts for nobody
Only to those who are New Zealand Residents, the cap should be $10000 per person the household (max is $40000), those without NZ resident should pay 15% or more income tax above the current rates.
If you barely can afford anything, how are you going to pay for something? Dependinig on situation and circumstances yes.
Yes I think low income workers should recieve this but not beneficiaries they get enough hand outs as it is !!
