Reasons To DisagreeThis is a short-sighted argument. 11 October 2010
Petrol prices are always going to increase. Drive less to save money. 2 December 2012
Should get rid rid of fuel taxes completely have an all over road user fee of $2000 ($40pw) to cover commutertransport, roading, basic mechanics and tyre replacements etc. 14 October 2013

Reasons To AgreePetrol tax should be a fixed amount of cents, adjusted for inflation. A component of determining this tax should be an environmental disincentive tax aimed at curbing the use of the motor car, when the price of petrol goes up, then this component of tax could be lessened, as the pump price is a big enough disincentive, while not destroying the economics of reliable prices. 5 June 2008
I agree that the petrol tax should be a fixed amount but should not be used to promote public transport, just remember that many of us live in small towns or rural areas where public transport is little or nonexistant 7 June 2008
Letting the tax go up when the price increases just rewards the Govt for mismanaging the economy! 3 July 2008

Reasons for Remain Neutral
Nonsensical double barrel question! Petrol tax should be decreased full stop! Every last cent that motorists pay in motoring-related taxes should be spent on roading.
