Reasons To Disagree

whats the point if the cop bosses are corrupt

11 December 2007

I believe in the deterance effect of the force, not the numbers within it. Increase integrity, and you've got my vote.

14 December 2007

Better use of current police nummbers would help.

31 January 2008

They're struggling to get enough people of sufficient calibre now. It's quality we need not quantity.

21 June 2008

As this has already happened, i vote no. Now we just have more speed cameras to look out for. Theyre still just as useless at helping people.

Reasons To Agree

Obviously increasing Police numbers will help reduce crime in our society but this is not the only change we need.

More police on the beat is one of the few ways to prevent crime that actually work. If every crime is punishable by the death penalty but you have no cops to enforce the law, the crime rate would be higher than it is now. Sentencing is obviously still important, but you need to catch the criminals in the first place.

Reasons for Remain Neutral

Probably - but better use of what we have is more important. Skip the revenue-gathering, form-filling and PC requirements - get them out on the streets catching crim's.
