Reasons To Disagree

No, it's biased because of VIEWER interests - viewers want news that interests and entertains them, advertisers want viewers ---> therefore TV companies make TV news you want to watch to increase revenues ---> therefore news is biased.

Reasons To Agree

Also limited by lack of investigative activity, blind acceptance of overseas news reports (I know this because TV1 will have a news report, TV3 will have exactly the same video clip and reporter 30seconds later). Not to mention bias against the police ("another death in police chase" instead of "fleeing idiot causes death") or how about "18yr old boy goes to scout jamboree" vs "18yr old man murders..."

I really wouldn't know who decides what we get but, whoever, it's a disaster!

Not enough World News. Who cares about half of the stuff they are talking about on the news currently?

Reasons for Remain Neutral

Its biased by many things, Including Kiwi Spin, and the Govt spin, but mostly due to media who have no skills in the srea they report in. I read the budget and never see what the news report, but I can read a balance sheet and expenditure starement. Most Journo's just cut and paste from media releases. The days of independent media analysis died years ago in NZ. And if you really do investigate something (say investigate magazine by wishart) you'r attacked by those with real power and immunity to prosecution (Ministers and MP's) and then everyone else cuts and pastes your stor. Mainstream media is a waste of time Who Cares anymore.
