Reasons To Disagreeprivate companies need eyeballs to make money, if your news is biased they go elsewhere. Unless you have money to burn you need to be free of Bias or you go broke (Its why student papers never turn a profit unless they have lots of sex in them.) More scary is state control of news media. Besides with the Internet, Blogging and other forms of Participating media the impact of the 6pm news is decreasing and its value is even more questionable. 19 June 2006

Reasons To AgreeMonopolies in broadcasting tend to limit the types of shows, opinions expressed and generally slant the news. If 90% of the media is controlled by 6% of the country, an awful lot of voices aren't being heard - and they may be the ones we *need* to hear. 12 April 2006

Reasons for Remain Neutral
A tough one this! To my mind there is far too much "big" in the media - and business in general come to that. But I am totally against gummint regulation! ...............
