Reasons To Disagree

Businesses should choose the best way of transporting goods . This should not be imposed by any government of the day. It also puts too much " power " in the hands of one transport delivery service and is subject to price increases and disruption

12 February 2006

Companies must choose what they see as the best means of transporting their goods - not gummint. However, the monstrous trucks which obstruct our roads should not be permitted.

28 September 2008

This would increase prices and further impoverish people as the price of all transported goods would have to rise.

12 April 2011

Some lines take ages to commute on i.e. the Whangeri to Auckland line was 5 hours and cannot take containers, widening the tunnel is hard due to the soft clay nature.

Reasons To Agree

This was the rule many years ago - when NZ owned teh train system

26 March 2006

Yeah - true and it should be the rule again these days too. Also, rail transport is safer than road transport is (and more environmentally friendly) too.

16 March 2007

1 poluting train compared to 30 poluting trucks yes have to agree

18 February 2010

or shipping for along coasts- its the most efficient

Reasons for Remain Neutral

This can be done by levelling the playing field. Regulation isn't necessary. Increase massively RUC on heavy trucks. Road damage caused by the 100 heaviest vehicles in the country is more than that caused by ALL cars. Why? Because damage caused is proportional the weight to the FOURTH power.
