Reasons To DisagreeIt would be better to lower the tax rates. Like UnitedFuture's 10%, 20% and 30% rates at 0-$12k, 12-38k and 38k+ 21 June 2008
Like the Scandinavian countries the higher income taxes provides for better social services. 5 October 2008
I agree with above comment. And an increase of min wage will generate more money. 11 May 2011
Shouldn't charge more tax on higher income earners in the 1st place 11 August 2011
the more you earn the more you burn.. wont matter how much consumers get it will never be enough.. the reality is the govt ability to defy its own science with turning a trickle down effect to a amazing trickle up effect. this country is being destroyed by the greedy few while the middle income mugs are sucked in with promises and the other 50% struggle to put some gravey on the spuds let alone buy some meat 17 September 2013
No there would be no point if your gonna raise income to raise tax it's not going to make my one any better off , raise incomes but not taxes 27 March 2016

Reasons To AgreeWe know have the crazy situation where people on 80k+ are considered to be in need of welfare assistance through WFF. This clearly shows that taxes are too high, changing the tax brackets would be a good start 25 March 2006
Considering inflation goes up I think the tax thresholds should also go up. A top tax rate threshold @ $60,000 gross per year is ridiculous. This should be where the middle income bracket starts! 3 September 2007
We are slowly being shafted as inflation pushes more of us into paying higher average tax rates. We need a brave govt that believes we will get rich as a country by working harder - not squirreling away tax takes. 22 October 2007
Nz needs to incourage success and reward high earners as these people are the backbone to nz industry. With little reward for success and greater reward focus on the lazy and inept, NZ has little hope of competing globally.Social equallity only drives ambitious people away to countries that will embrace enthusuim for success. When all are equal with no money to spend where does the money come from to employ the nation. 28 October 2007
first $5000 tax free, raise $60K to $100K (then it will affect 5% of earners), raise $38K threshold to $50K and have a $5000 - $15K at 10% so $0-$5K:0%, $5-15K:10%, $15K-50K:20%, $50-100k: 33% and 100K+:39% or even 40% 14 January 2008
Clearly - Cullen's been screwing the TP by devious means 28 September 2008
Silly question without conditions. Fiscal drag makes this a necessary evil. 11 October 2010
I agree because of inflation. The purchasing power of money tends to decrease. 8 January 2012

Reasons for Remain Neutral
just scrap the higher tax rates & go to a flat rate system
I reckon the flat tax rates is the best idea.
